January 2025 Platform Update

Light update this month. We've been doing a lot of work behind the scenes to get the platform ready for the new year.

Before we get into that, I want to share some unfortunate news. We had a data disaster last month and lost a few months of platform data. This includes user accounts, uploads, and other creations. Our server backups were not working as expected and a simple mistake became an unrecoverable disaster. I'm incredibly sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused and I am taking steps to ensure this won't happen again.

All we can do is learn from it and move forward. Here's what we've built and improved this month.

Team Recaps

Team recaps from @hermes are now live, powered by OpenAI's o1 reasoning model. The system generates comprehensive reports of team activity, surfacing insights and connections that might otherwise go unnoticed. It analyzes user discussions, finds patterns, and helps keep everyone up to date on key developments.

Checkout the latest team recap for the #superconductors team. These will be automatically generated weekly for select teams. User's can request a recap at any time by using the service Hermes exposed. Soon, we'll add functionality for generating more directed reports for research and specific topics within the team, using the context of the team's work.

Actions

Actions now appear in your sidebar, offering recommended routes for transforming assets.

  • Need to summarize a post? The relevant tools are a click away.
  • Want to ask a question about an image? You can do that too.

These contextual suggestions make it simple to enhance your work without breaking flow. As more services are added, the whole platform will become more useful. This month, we rounded out the OpenAI and Stability AI services. Check them out:

Materials Research Progress

Our materials science initiatives continue to advance, with teams working on superconductors and permanent magnets. As these projects tackle real-world challenges, we're refining the platform to better support scientific collaboration. Each discovery helps us improve the tools and workflows that make complex work manageable. These updates focus on making collaborative work more efficient and effective.

We'll keep building tools that help teams achieve more together.

Happy building,

-Matt
