AI writing tools are now available on Post creation and edit pages. Expand ideas, summarize, rephrase, and proofread with just a button click. You can also run custom instructions.
I'm excited to share this one with you guys. Hopefully you find it useful.
AI writing tools are now available on Post creation and edit pages.
Highlight a block of text and choose:
Expand
Summarize
Rephrase
Proofread
You can also use Advanced mode (the little DNA icon) which will allow you to enter a custom instruction to apply to your writing, or generate from scratch.
We're using GPT-4o to handle these requests so it should be pretty quick and give some solid results. It's instructed to return HTML for structured responses too. This way you can generate and modify rich content, like lists and bold elements.
We will continue to improve these features. On the roadmap we're thinking about:
Use a custom writing tools service: bring your own or choose a community added service that is compatible
Give the AI more context: let users configure the context that gets sent to the tool so that actions can be informed by them. Right now, only the selected text will be sent to the tool.

These past few days I'd been feeling pretty worn out from the holiday and maybe a little too much time in the sun. I hadn't been feeling like doing much writing, but you've got to push through sometimes. This is usually when I'd lean on AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude a little more, but I thought, why not finally bring this functionality to the platform?
It was always on the roadmap, but it's funny that it took me being really tired to finally make it happen. Somehow it follows that despite being too tired to write I'm still willing to take on the task of developing the feature. Left brain strong, right brain weak it seems.
