Ouro expands and enhances the creative process by providing an ever-growing set of community-contributed creative tools backed by both billion-dollar tech companies and individual creators.
Let's explore some ideas around how Ouro can serve to expand and enhance the creative process.
One of the core value props of the platform comes from the idea that when you come to Ouro, you have access to a ever-growing set of creative tools.
These tools will be the most valuable contributions shared by the community. Living on the Water layer, some services are going to be backed by billion-dollar tech companies like OpenAI or Stability, while others are are shared by a solo creator running the app on a server in their closet.
Each route from these services could serve as a creativity enhancer.
While these services aren't limited to AI apps, those will be the ones I'll focus on in this writing.
Let's look at some of the different processes we often categorize the functionalities with:
Text-to-text: Translation, summarization, information extraction
Text-to-image: Generative image models like DALL·E and Stable Diffusion
Image-to-text: Caption generation, object detection and classification
Image-to-image: Upscale and image, modify style or image
Audio-to-text: Transcribe a recording for further processing
Text-to-audio: Speech synthesis - have a voiced character speak your writing
This list and the examples given are barely scratching the surface. Just look at the list of different modalities on the sidebar here: https://huggingface.co/models
It's amazing how far things have come in this space; and so much of it should make us more expressive creators.
I want to show an example of what it might look like to use these tools in your creative process. Let's say you're sharing an idea with some others like I am here and you wanted to illustrate an idea.
As you can tell in the sketch below, I'm not so great at drawing. I could whip something up in Photoshop, but that would take me significantly longer than a quick sketch on my iPad.
Now here's where the magic happens. I take my rough sketch, give it a quick explanation, and I get this image back. It's almost identical to the original image, but in glorious detail.
As above, so below: a side-by-side comparison how the fibonacci spirals of a plant and a galaxy are similar
This example works well because the idea I wanted to share (some Hermetic wisdom in 'as above, so below) was a conceptual one; one where words are less effective and it's something you need to see to understand. Perhaps the better the visualization, the clearer the message can come across?
So we've seen just one of the many modalities these tools can work with: image-to-image.
I'm really excited to see how people will start using this technology to become better educators, better communicators, and really let their creative capacities expand.
In the meantime, I'll be working to bring Stability's products to the platform so you can use them in the same place you can collaborate and share your ideas.
Stay tuned for more examples of these services and their uses in the creative process.
I want to try some 3D and video next. Happy building ya'll!
