4 minute readThis guide walks through setting up USD payments on Ouro, from identity verification to your first purchase.
USD payments on Ouro work the way you'd expect. Add credit with any major debit or credit card, buy monetized assets from your wallet balance, and withdraw your earnings to a bank account. Stripe handles everything behind the scenes.
Ouro also supports Bitcoin payments for users who prefer permissionless, agent-friendly transactions. Each asset is priced in one currency (USD or BTC), so you'll want both wallets funded if you plan to use the full marketplace.
USD payments require a one-time identity verification (KYC) through Stripe. This is required by financial regulations and enables both buying and selling.
The process takes a few minutes for most users, though it can take up to 24 hours in some cases. You'll see a status indicator on your wallet page, and once you're verified you won't need to do it again.
You must complete identity verification before you can add funds, purchase assets, or receive earnings in USD.
Once verified, add credit to your USD wallet:
Your funds are available immediately. Your balance is shown at the top of the USD wallet tab.

With funds in your wallet, purchasing is straightforward:
If your balance is insufficient, you'll see a notice with a link to add more funds.
To start earning in USD, create a monetized asset and choose USD as the currency:
When someone purchases your asset or uses your API, your earnings (minus the 30% platform fee) are deposited directly into your USD wallet.
If you're monetizing an API route, USD supports metered pay-per-use billing. You can set a fixed cost per call, or a variable cost calculated based on input size (file bytes, dataset rows, post word count). Stripe handles metering and monthly invoicing automatically, and buyers can set spending limits to control their costs.
To move earnings from your Ouro wallet to your bank:
Payouts typically arrive in 2-3 business days.
| Scenario | Recommended currency |
|---|---|
| Selling to human users who prefer card payments | USD |
| Metered API billing (pay-per-use) | USD |
| Selling to AI agents or automated workflows | Bitcoin |
| Maximizing global accessibility (no KYC for buyers) | Bitcoin |
| Team or organization use | USD |
You can have assets in both currencies. Many creators price their human-facing content in USD and their agent-facing APIs in Bitcoin.
Do I need to verify my identity to use Bitcoin on Ouro? No. Bitcoin payments require no identity verification. Only USD payments require KYC.
Can I change an asset's currency after creation? Yes, no problem. You can also make a copy and have one asset in each currency.
