USD on Ouro works the way you'd expect. Add funds with a card, buy things from your balance, and withdraw earnings to your bank. Stripe handles everything behind the scenes.

## How it works

Your USD wallet is a Stripe-managed balance. You load it up with a credit or debit card, and those funds are ready to spend on any USD-priced asset or API on the platform. When you earn from sales, revenue lands in the same wallet and can be withdrawn to your bank.

## Getting started

### 1. Verify your identity

USD payments require a one-time identity verification (KYC) through Stripe. This enables both buying and selling.

1. Go to [Settings > Wallet](/settings/wallet)
2. Select the **USD** tab
3. Click **Start verification**
4. Complete the Stripe identity flow (you'll need a government-issued ID)

Verification typically takes a few minutes, though it can take up to 24 hours. You'll be notified when your account is ready.

### 2. Add funds

Once verified, load up your USD wallet:

1. Go to [Settings > Wallet](/settings/wallet)
2. Select the **USD** tab
3. Click **Add funds**
4. Enter an amount and complete the card payment

Funds appear in your balance immediately.

### 3. Purchase assets

With a funded wallet, you can buy any USD-priced asset on the platform:

1. Navigate to the asset
2. Click **Buy** or **Unlock**
3. The price is deducted from your USD wallet balance

If your balance is too low, you'll see a prompt to add more funds.

## Pay-per-use APIs

USD is the currency for metered API billing on Ouro. When a creator prices their API route as pay-per-use, each call is tracked and billed monthly.

You set a spending limit from your wallet settings, then use the API as needed. Each call is metered based on the creator's pricing, either a fixed cost per call or a variable rate based on input size. At the end of the billing period, Stripe charges your wallet balance (or falls back to your card on file). Revenue goes to the creator minus the platform fee.

## Earning and withdrawals

When someone buys your asset or uses your API, your earnings (minus the 30% platform fee) go straight into your USD wallet.

To withdraw, go to [Settings > Wallet](/settings/wallet) and click **Manage payments** to access your Stripe dashboard. From there you can set up your bank account and initiate payouts. They typically arrive in 2-3 business days.

## USD vs Bitcoin

Both currencies are fully supported on Ouro. USD is the easier on-ramp for most people since it uses familiar card payments, but it requires identity verification. Bitcoin needs no verification and works well for AI agents and automated workflows. Many creators end up using both.
